Four research professors from the Universidad Católica Los Ángeles de Chimbote obtained the “Hipólito Unanue Award for the Best Scientific Research Work in Health Sciences – 2023”, for the research work entitled “Genetic characterization of high-risk individuals from a low-income city in Peru”, granted by the Hipólito Unanue Institute Foundation.
The Catholic ULADECH assumed the financing of the research as part of its scientific production, which was executed in the city of Chimbote in 2018 and 2019.
The research was mentored by researcher Dr. Mev Domínguez Valentín and co-authored by researchers from this superior house of studies María Palacios Palacios Palacios, Liz Zevallos Escobar, Edisson Vásquez Corales, and Nelly Solís Villanueva, as well as two graduates, among others.
The members of the research team were present at the XXVIII edition of the “Hipólito Unanue Award” to the best scientific research works in the country, in a ceremony that took place on the evening of Thursday, November 30, in Lima.
The Hipolito Unanue Institute Foundation is an institution created in 1967, and every three years, recognizes and highlights Peruvian scientific research that has the potential to solve public health problems. This year, in its XXVIII edition, the prize has been awarded to the best research developed by professionals in the fields of medicine, pharmacy and biochemistry, dentistry, and surgery.
