History:The university

The creation of the Los Angeles Catholic University of Chimbote goes back to the effort of the community and of the young people who sought the realization of their noble ideals. Thus, on June 12, 1985, the Parliament of the Republic by law No. 24163 created the University in order to offer professional training and contribute to development in Chimbote city and our country.

The National Assembly of Rectors, through Resolution No. 1045-98 and Resolution No. 1124-98 published in the official newspaper El Peruano, recognized the institutionalization of the University and authorized the definitive operation of the university.

The University in its consolidation process, on November 22, 2008, stands as a Catholic University in the Cathedral of the Diocese of Chimbote, adapting its statute to the norms of canon law and the Apostolic Constitution Ex Corde Ecclesiae. This name change was authorized by the National Council for the Authorization of the Operation of Universities, with Resolution No. 119-2009-CONAFU, on March 11, 2009, being the Diocese of Chimbote through its Bishop and Grand Chancellor of the University, Monsignor Angel Francisco Simón Piorno as guide and Catholic reference.

From this historic event, ULADECH Catholic contributes to the evangelizing mission of the Church and is configured as a center of humanistic formation, guided by the principles and values of the Social Doctrine of the Church, providing a quality service for the good common. Likewise, it guarantees professional academic improvement through international and national agreements.

On August 28, 2020, a substantial change was experienced at the University by electing a new Rector who, together with the university community, assumes the challenges of the university reform in order to continue offering a quality education that meets the demands of the contemporary world.

Currently, the Catholic University “Los Ángeles de Chimbote” has 3 faculties with 11 professional careers that offer undergraduate study programs, both at the headquarters and in the 4 branches nationwide.

The University has proposed to train people capable of rational and critical judgment, and aware of the transcendental dignity of the human person; professional training that includes ethical values and the dimension of service to people and society as an expression of the harmony between humanistic and cultural wealth with specialized professional training.
