ULADECH Católica reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability

At the Universidad Católica Los Ángeles de Chimbote there is a high degree of commitment to care for the environment in order to maintain a healthier and more balanced environment for the progress of the country. This is the reason for its permanence in the Report on Environmental Sustainability in Peruvian Universities (RSAUP), which is carried out by the Inter-University Environmental Network of the Ministry of the Environment.

In the last RSAUP 2023 ranking, ULADECH Católica ranked 39th out of a total of 69 universities evaluated at national level, surpassing even licensed universities.

The coordinator of Environmental Management of the Office of University Social Responsibility, Mr. José Luis Gutierrez Aponte, indicated that as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, ULADECH Católica carries out tree planting campaigns, implementation of bio-gardens and compost bins, beach cleaning campaigns, as well as waste segregation campaigns; for which volunteer groups, made up of students, alumni, teaching and non-teaching staff, as well as the community, participate.

The Report on Environmental Sustainability in Peruvian Universities (RSAUP) is an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Environment (MINAM) in the framework of the Inter-University Environmental Network (RAI) that monitors the implementation of environmental policies and actions of Peruvian universities as part of the university’s institutional commitment to sustainable development.

The RSAUP aims to make visible and recognise the contribution of universities to environmental sustainability; and its objective is to raise awareness of its importance in the university and its surroundings.

Since 2021, ULADECH Católica has been complying with this report and reaffirming its firm commitment to environmental balance.
