Los Angeles Catholic University of Chimbote deploys preventive campaign promoting oral health in the districts of Nuevo Chimbote and Samanco

Project “Recovering Smiles” will benefit a total population of 400 people

Los Angeles Catholic University of Chimbote (ULADECH Catholic), on April 19 and 22, carried out one more stage of the comprehensive oral health campaign in the districts of Nuevo Chimbote and Samanco. This year the beneficiaries will be a total of 400 people from the human settlements and young towns of both districts, in an effort to promote oral hygiene habits and improve the quality of life of the community.

This activity is part of the phased implementation of the “Recovering Smiles” Project 2024, corresponding to the Office of University Social Responsibility – Extension, Participation and Social Projection Services.

The project has the firm commitment to mitigate oral health problems of the beneficiaries previously identified as part of the vulnerable populations of the Human Settlements and Young Towns of the Districts of Nuevo Chimbote (300 beneficiaries) and Samanco (30 beneficiaries).

ULADECH Catholic has deployed a multidisciplinary team of health professionals, students and volunteers, who join forces with members of the municipalities of Nuevo Chimbote and Samanco, to carry out this important initiative.

The oral health campaign held last week in both districts, is part of a series of educational activities, free dental consultations, fluoride application, delivery of oral hygiene kits and informative talks on the importance of preventive dental care, and includes the development of prostheses for a total of 30 beneficiaries in the District of Samanco, whose delivery will be in the next Campaign to be held on May 10 outside the District Municipality of Samanco from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
