With a splendor of joy, color and tradition, Chimbote authorities presented in Lima the official launching of the San Pedrito Festival in its Bicentenary Edition, a celebration that this year is especially relevant as it commemorates the 200th anniversary of Peru’s independence.
The event, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture, was attended by Dr. Juan Roger Rodriguez Ruiz, rector of the Los Angeles Catholic University of Chimbote, who has been a fundamental pillar in the management for the declaration of the Festivity of San Pedrito as Cultural Heritage of the Nation.
The event, which represented a preview of what will be experienced in our northern port from June 19 to 30, allowed to announce in style the official launching of the Festivity of San Pedrito in its Bicentennial Edition; and included the presence -for the first time in Lima- of the image of San Pedrito, the patron saint of fishermen.
During his speech, Dr. Rodriguez Ruiz expressed his deep gratitude and pride for seeing how the feast of San Pedrito, which has been a deep-rooted tradition in Chimbote, obtains the recognition and national projection it deserves.
