Los Angeles Catholic University of Chimbote celebrated its 39th anniversary this Wednesday, June 12, with an emotional ceremony that brought together academic and local authorities and prominent members of the community. The day began at 10:00 AM with a mass of thanksgiving at the university’s Convention Center.
One of the most emotional moments of the celebration was when Monsignor Salvador Piñeiro García-Calderón, Metropolitan Archbishop of Ayacucho and Vice Chancellor of ULADECH Catholic, was awarded the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa. The award ceremony included the reading of a portrait of Monsignor Piñeiro by Ms. Ruth Santivañez de Vivanco, Dean of the Faculty of Law and Humanities, and the reading of the Resolution conferring the degree by Ms. Silvia Sánchez Avalos, Secretary General.
The event was attended by prominent local authorities, including the mayor of Nuevo Chimbote, the rector of the Universidad Nacional del Santa, deans of professional schools, councilors of the Provincial Municipality of Santa and Nuevo Chimbote, as well as representatives of the municipalities of Moro, Coishco and Nepeña. Also present were important personalities of the civil society, demonstrating the broad support and recognition towards the university.
In his speech, ULADECH Catholic’s Rector, Fr. Dr. Juan Roger Rodriguez Ruiz, highlighted the resilience and commitment of the university community over the years. “Today, with pride, we begin a new history for our university. We have worked tirelessly to overcome challenges and achieve our goals, and this anniversary is testimony to our effort and dedication,” he said, underlining the significant progress and renewal of the institution.
The celebration continued with a keynote address by Monsignor Piñeiro García-Calderón, followed by a toast of honor by the Academic Vice Rector, Dr. José Plascencia Latour. The event also included the projection of an institutional video highlighting the university’s achievements and trajectory, concluding with words of thanks and congratulations from the authorities present.
The 39th anniversary ceremony of ULADECH Catholic not only commemorated its rich history, but also reaffirmed its commitment to quality education and the integral formation of its students, positioning itself as a fundamental pillar in the development of the region and the country.
