In a well-attended ceremony, Los Angeles Catholic University celebrated its 38th anniversary of institutional life; the celebration took place on Monday June 12th at the University Convention Center; the authorities who presided over the table of honor were: the Grand Chancellor, His Excellency Monsignor Angel Zapata Bances; the Presbyter Doctor Juan Roger Rodríguez Ruiz, Rector of our university; the Academic and Research Vice Chancellors, Dr. José Plasencia Latour and Dr. Fernando Rubio Cabrera; the General Secretary, Magister Silvia Sánchez Avalos; the deans of the 3 faculties, Dr. Nélida Cantuarias Noriega; Dr. Ezequiel Eusebio Lara and Mgtr. Ruth Santivañez de Ugaz. In addition to the directors of the eleven professional schools, offices head, non-teaching and teaching staff and students of the different professional careers.
As part of the program, the distinction with the title of Doctor Honoris Causa was included for 2 outstanding women, who with their work have been contributing significantly to the development of the province, the region and the country; Dr. América Odar Rosario, Rector of the National University of Santa and Sister Norma Anna Frick.
Local authorities were present, such as the mayor of the District Municipality of Santa, Master’s degree Lawyer Alex Motta Borjas; the Rector of the San Pedro University, Dr. Javier Leopoldo Ulloa Siccha; representatives of the Provincial Municipality of Santa and the District Municipality of Nuevo Chimbote; representative of the Chimbote Police Division; deans of professional colleges; the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santa, Ing. Gilmer Zavaleta Moreno; the administrator of the Centro Cultural Centenario de Chimbote, Ms. Silvia Diestra Pastor, among others.
The ceremony began with the paraliturgy by the Chaplain of the university, Magister Giovanni Sabogal Osorio; Later, the words of welcome were given by Monsignor Ángel Zapata Bances, who asked for the growth of our university. The anniversary speech has been in charge of the Pbro. Dr. Juan Roger Rodríguez Ruiz, who thanked all those who contributed to forming this great university and those who help to consolidate it over time, also pointed out that the university exalts itself in its excellence by incorporating people into its family as Doctor Honoris Causa who have devoted their lives to being better in certain areas of knowledge and action, becoming role models worthy of imitation.
Immediately afterwards, the distinctions of Doctor Honoris Causa were awarded; to Dr. América Odar Rosario and to sister Norma Anna Frick; each distinction began with the reading of the resume, an act that was in charge of the Dean of the Faculty of Law and Humanities, Mgtr. Ruth Santivañez de Ugaz; Subsequently, the reading of the appointment resolution was in charge of the General Secretary of the University, Mgtr. Silvia Sanchez Avalos; After that, the medal was awarded and the diploma was delivered by the Pbro. Dr. Juan Roger Rodríguez Ruiz.
After that, both Dr. Odar and Sister Frick spoke up.
Continuing with the ceremony, the toast of honor was given by Dr. José Plasencia Latour, Academic Vice Chancellor of the University; who provided for our university to present itself satisfactorily this year in the institutional licensing process and to be able to obtain the license that allows the university to continue providing a quality service for students from the city, region and country and also to be able to meet in the following years to celebrate another year of life of our beloved institution.
Finally, the artistic presentations took place; The first number was in charge of Mishell Alipio Montoya, a member of the Chimbote Children’s Symphony Orchestra, promoted by the Centro Cultural Centenario, who performed a piece of classical music and a Vals. To close the day, the ULADECH dance group danced a festejo dance.
