ULADECH Católica, through the Theology and Pastoral Office, carried out a series of activities as part of Laudato Si’ 2023 Week, commemorating the eighth anniversary of the encyclical Laudato Si’ (Praise you).
With the motto “Hope for the earth. Hope for humanity”, on Tuesday, May 23th, the videoconference “Laudato Si’ and its implementation in Catholic ULADECH” was held, by Fr. Dr. Jaume Benaloy Marco and Ms. José Luis Gutierrez Aponte, Coordinator of Environmental Management of the University. In this activity, the encyclical of Pope Francis was presented and the measures that Catholic ULADECH has been implementing in order to contribute to the care of our common home were announced. Among others, the promotion of activities that promote contemplation, admiration and care of creation was highlighted, the conversion to renewable energy for the energy sustenance of Catholic ULADECH and the creation of green spaces in the university in proportion to its number of members.
On the other hand, on Wednesday, May 24th, we participated in the XXV Contempla-Activa Conference of the ALBA Project, an activity that was carried out in coordination with the Circle of Animators Laudato Si’ of Chimbote, through the projection of the film “La Carta” at the Catholic ULADECH Convention Center, with the presence of the Bishop of Chimbote and numerous representatives of various educational and social institutions in the city.
Finally, on Thursday, May 25th, the University Mass for the care of the Common Home was celebrated, presided over by Fr. Ms. Giovanni Sabogal Osorio, chaplain of the university. It was held at the Convention Center with the participation of teaching and non-teaching staff from the headquarters and the staff of the affiliates were able to participate through the live broadcast on the institutional Facebook. As a memory of the mass, tree seedlings were given to the attendees, who assumed the commitment to plant and care for them.
