More than 300 people with limited economic resources from the districts of Nuevo Chimbote and Samanco received free dental care, thanks to the oral health campaign “Recovering Smiles”, carried out by the Universidad Católica Los Ángeles de Chimbote, through the Service Coordination University Social.
The campaign, aimed at vulnerable populations, was carried out from April 8 to May 29, 2024 and managed to serve a total of 395 patients completely free of charge.
Through this initiative, essential dental services such as extraction, fluoridation, dental restoration, prophylaxis and dental prosthetics were offered. Of the patients treated, 332 received partial or total prostheses at no cost.
The campaign was developed in 10 human settlements in the aforementioned districts, covering a large population that, otherwise, would not have had access to these services.
The main objective of the project was to improve the oral health of vulnerable communities and promote the importance of preventive dental care.
The Universidad Católica Los Ángeles de Chimbote reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of the community and will continue working on projects that benefit the most needy populations.
