The Universidad Católica Los Ángeles de Chimbote reaffirms its commitment to the environment by successfully executing the II Solid Waste Segregation and Collection Campaign under the motto “In my community we recycle together.” This initiative, aimed at the students of the Fe y Alegría Educational Institution No. 14, located in the young town of Tres de Octubre, district of Nuevo Chimbote, had as its main objective to promote responsible practices for the management of non-hazardous solid waste.

During the campaign, three ecological points and a temporary warehouse were implemented within the campus, to facilitate the correct segregation and collection of waste. Which facilitates the proper disposal of waste, and also educates about the importance of reducing environmental impact through sustainable habits.

The initiative developed by the University Social Responsibility Office; Through the Environmental Management Coordination, it managed to raise awareness among students, teachers and administrative staff about the crucial importance of proper waste management, highlighting the appointment of six environmental promoters to lead this change within the educational community.

The final disposal of the collected waste, which included 94 kg of plastic, 85 kg of white paper and 22 kg of cardboard, was in charge of the operating company “GRUPO4ECOS”. The success of the campaign was reflected in the active participation of 122 people, including seven members of non-teaching staff from ULADECH Católica and 115 from IE Fe y Alegría No. 14.

In this way, ULADECH Católica continues to lead concrete actions in favor of the environment, strengthening its commitment to sustainable development and environmental education in the region.
